Brukenthal Museum - Contemporary Art Museum

6 Tribunei street, Sibiu

The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Brukenthal National Museum is housed in a building of architectural and historical value, dating from 1901, which over time has hosted various cultural institutions and is today gradually being redefined as a section dedicated exclusively to contemporary art. The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Brukenthal National Museum holds an important position among the spaces promoting Romanian contemporary art. It represents a strong alternative to the single direction supported by the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest, with a public-oriented character and an approach focused on the free and innovative selection and presentation of exhibitions. Starting in 2014, the temporary exhibition space on the ground floor of the building was complemented by a visitable contemporary art storage area, arranged on the first and second floors. In 2019, a new temporary exhibition hall was opened.
