Shilry Laub

Shirley Laub studied in Brussels with Clemens Quatacker at the Koninklijk Muziekconservatorium, before pursuing advanced training with Wiktor Liberman and Philippe Hirshhorn in Utrecht.
In 1997, she was named "Young Soloist of the French-speaking Public Radio Stations," and in 2001, she received the Juventus Award from the Council of Europe, a recognition given to outstanding young European musicians.
As both a soloist and chamber musician, she has recorded for numerous international radio stations including Musiq'3, Klara, Concertzender (NL), Radio Classique France, France Musique, Radio Suisse Romande, Radio Canada, RAI, and the BBC. Her discography includes releases on the Explicit!, Passacaille, and Fuga Libera labels.
In 2001, she joined the Silk Road Ensemble in New York, performing chamber music alongside Yo-Yo Ma in concert halls around the world.
From 1998 to 2005, she served as concertmaster of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London. She is regularly invited as guest concertmaster by major ensembles such as the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden, the BBC orchestras, leading Belgian symphony orchestras, and orchestras in France, the Netherlands, Spain, and South Korea.
Her work as a soloist and chamber musician—particularly as first violin of the Oxalys ensemble (since 1993) and as a founding member of the TrioFenix string trio—has brought her to prestigious stages worldwide, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, Wigmore Hall in London, the Library of Congress in Washington D.C., and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.
Shirly Laub has served as a jury member for international competitions such as the Queen Elisabeth Competition. She is the founder of the Musiq’3 Festival String Orchestra and has been a professor of violin at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels since 2003.
