Johannes Fleischmann

Born into a musical family in Vienna, the violinist Johannes Fleischmann received his first instrumental education at the age of 5. After graduating from the Viennese “Musikgymnasium”, he founded the “o(h)!-ton Ensemble, Wien” in 2003. The same year, he began his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, in the classes of Klaus Maetzl and Christian Altenburger and graduated in 2011 with distinction. Johannes Fleischmann continued his studies with Johannes Meissl and Hatto Beyerle specializing in chamber music. Due to his “outstanding chamber music performance”, he won the “Piano Chamber Music Award” at the ISA-Festival. Besides his numerous engagements as a soloist and chamber musician, Johannes Fleischmann regularly performs with celebrated orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. These collaborations have given him the opportunity to work closely with outstanding personalities including Daniel Barenboim, Sir Colin Davis, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Georges Prêtre etc.
Johannes Fleischmann’s work is furthermore characterised by his social commitment. Appointed by the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as ambassador for the NASOM “New Austrian Sound of Music” program, Johannes Fleischmann undertook numerous concert tours worldwide. Fleischmann has curated his own series of chamber music concerts at the MuTh in Vienna for two seasons (2020-2022). In October 2020, Fleischmann began teaching violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna as an assistant to Elisabeth Kropfitsch. In 2022, Fleischmann founded and has since been the artistic director of the master classes and music festival “Althofener Meisterklassen” in Carinthia, Austria. Johannes Fleischmann currently performs on a violin by Stephan von Baehr, anno 2016.
